Spain wildfires: over 62,000 hectares burned, 13 dead in July alone

More than 62,000 hectares of forest have burned in Spain since the start of 2026, more than double the figure for the same period in 2025, according to the EFE news agency. In July alone, 15 major fires were recorded, killing 13 people. The figures represent the worst wildfire statistics Spain has seen in years.
