World's oldest amber found in China — 385 million years old

An international team of researchers has discovered 385-million-year-old amber in the Hujiersite formation in China's Xinjiang region, making it the oldest amber ever found. The find overturns the long-held belief that vascular plants began producing resin en masse only around 320 million years ago in the late Carboniferous period. The results were published in the journal Science Advances.
