Coinbase cuts 700 jobs as AI now writes nearly all of its code

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has laid off 700 employees and announced that artificial intelligence now handles the creation of nearly all of its platform code. The company is shifting to a model of small teams supported by thousands of AI agents. It is one of the most significant examples yet of AI replacing software developers in the fintech sector.
