Asia's ash-killing beetle spotted in Slovakia, threatening Poland's forests

The emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis), an invasive beetle from Asia, has been detected in Slovakia for the first time, close to the Polish border. The insect is a lethal threat to ash trees, capable of killing one within just two years. Its appearance in a neighbouring country poses a real risk of the pest spreading into Polish forests.
