Former Hungarian foreign minister Szijjártó quits parliament
Péter Szijjártó, longtime foreign minister and a key figure in Viktor Orbán's inner circle, has resigned his seat in the Hungarian parliament. Opposition leader Péter Magyar responded on X, writing that "the fall of Fidesz is accelerating" and that the party is heading towards "political annihilation". Magyar compared Fidesz's trajectory to that of Hungarian parties from the 1990s that subsequently disappeared from politics.
