Metabolism stays stable until around 60 — weight gain in midlife is about lifestyle
Research suggests that metabolism remains relatively stable in most people until around age 60, challenging the common belief that it slows significantly in middle age. Weight gain in people aged 40–50 is more often linked to reduced physical activity and lifestyle changes than to ageing itself. A more noticeable metabolic slowdown typically occurs only after the age of 60.
