Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie Gets Theatrical Release After Online Leak

Ever since the announcement of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender , it's been one piece of bad news after another for fans awaiting the Gaang's feature-length adventure. The film, based on a story idea from original creators Brian Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino and helmed by Lauren Montgomery , faced numerous delays, originally intending to bend its way into theaters in October 2025. Once it settled on an October 9, 2026, date, however, Paramount controversially decided to pull the big-screen release altogether in favor of making all Avatar Studios projects exclusive to Paramount+ . Making matters worse is that, shortly thereafter, the entire film leaked online, only further spurring the animators and even the original Avatar: The Last Airbender cast to push for the film to be given a proper run in theaters.
