EU won't require replaceable batteries in smartwatches and other wearables

The European Commission has decided that smartwatches and other wearables will be exempt from the EU's 2023 regulation requiring replaceable batteries in many electronics by 2027. The rule was intended to make consumer devices more repairable and reduce electronic waste. Wearable manufacturers will not be required to redesign their products to accommodate user-replaceable batteries.
