"Likweli" monkey mystery solved after nearly two decades of research

A species of monkey with distinctive orange lips, known locally as "Likweli" or "kasaba nkoni," puzzled scientists for nearly 20 years before being formally identified and classified. Researchers have now resolved the mystery and described the animal as a new species. The discovery closes a long-standing gap in primate taxonomy.
