Perseverance Rover Captures Ancient Rocks at Jezero Crater Rim

NASA's Perseverance rover captured a sweeping panorama on May 15, 2025 (sol 1,505) of a rock formation called the "Broom Point member" on the outer rim of Jezero Crater on Mars. The layered bedrock stack is 75 metres thick and likely more than 3.9 billion years old. The image was taken by the Mastcam-Z instrument from the 150-metre-tall crater rim.
