Gold Tongue Amulets Found in Egypt Let the Dead Speak in the Afterlife
Archaeologists excavating Marina el-Alamein, west of Alexandria, have unearthed around two dozen rare gold tongue amulets, including one shaped like the Eye of Horus. Ancient Egyptians placed these artefacts in the mouths of the dead, believing they would allow the deceased to speak in the afterlife. The find is considered one of the more significant recent archaeological discoveries in Egypt.
