Poland's budget deficit hits 123 bn zloty as VAT revenues stagnate due to CPN scheme
Poland's state budget deficit has exceeded 123 billion zloty, with near-zero growth in VAT revenues emerging as the main problem. The Ministry of Finance points partly to the CPN cheap-fuel programme, estimated to cost 4.7 billion zloty in total, as a factor weighing on tax income. Overall budget revenues are growing, but not fast enough to offset the widening deficit.
