Parliamentary committee backs Gregorczyk-Abram for Ombudsman, rejects PiS candidate

Poland's parliamentary committee on justice and human rights gave a positive opinion to Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram, nominated by KO and Lewica, for the post of Ombudsman (RPO). The rival candidate, Adam Borowski, put forward by PiS, received a negative opinion. The 38-member committee includes 19 coalition MPs, 18 opposition MPs and one independent.
