Święty-Ersetic out of European Championships in Birmingham

Justyna Święty-Ersetic, 33-year-old Olympic champion and one of Poland's greatest 400m runners, has announced she will not compete at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham — neither in the relay nor individually. The sprinter released a statement expressing hope that this is not her farewell to the sport. Poland's mixed 4x400m relay team will still compete for a medal, led by Natalia Bukowiecka and Maksymilian Szwed.
