US claims China obtained an EUV chip-making machine — a potential tech catastrophe

The US Secretary of State claimed that China has obtained an EUV (extreme ultraviolet lithography) machine — the critical technology used to manufacture the world's most advanced semiconductors. Export of such machines, made by Dutch firm ASML, is subject to strict controls. If confirmed, the acquisition would represent a major blow to US and European dominance in advanced chip manufacturing, according to The Economist.
