Portmarnock Golf Club in Dublin close to hosting first Open Championship outside UK

R&A chief executive Mark Darbon said the organisation is "getting pretty close" to staging The Open Championship at Portmarnock Golf Club in Dublin, which would be the first time the tournament is held outside Great Britain. No official announcement has yet been made.
