Dust pollution rising across Europe as North Africa grows drier
A database of daily dust metal measurements across Europe and a machine learning model show that transported dust intrusion events have intensified over the past decade due to changes in atmospheric circulation. An ice-core analysis confirms that the increase in dust since pre-industrial times is driven by growing aridity in North Africa. The findings were published in Nature.
