54-qubit processor achieves universal topological quantum computing via anyon braiding

A 54-qubit quantum hardware realisation of non-Abelian S3 topological order has demonstrated that combining anyon braiding with fusion enables universal topological quantum computation. The result is a major milestone towards error-resistant topological quantum computers. The work was published in Nature on 15 July 2026.
