Using satellite imagery and machine learning, researchers mapped six types of semi-natural open wetlands and land-use disturbance across European countries. The results reveal that wetlands are highly fragmented, with restoration needs distributed unevenly across regions. The data are intended to help prioritise nature conservation and restoration efforts.
