FCC moves to scrap 39% local TV station ownership cap in the US

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is set to vote on eliminating the rule capping local TV station ownership at 39% of US TV households. The agency already approved in March the sale of Tegna to Nexstar, giving Nexstar a reach covering 80% of US TV households. Scrapping the cap would further consolidate the local television broadcast market.
