US strikes Iran's coastal defences and missile sites after reimposing naval blockade

US Central Command launched a new wave of strikes at 6 a.m. ET against Iran's coastal defence systems and cruise missile storage and launch sites, following the reimposition of a naval blockade of Iranian ports. The strikes aim to further degrade Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly one-fifth of global oil and gas shipments pass. Iran threatened to shut off additional regional energy exports in response.
