PsiQuantum plans a photon-based quantum computer that could solve million-year problems

PsiQuantum, founded in 2016 by four physicists from UK universities, is designing a massive quantum computer that uses photons rather than traditional qubits. The machine would house some 100 stainless-steel cabinets filled with hundreds of chips, through which thousands of light particles would travel through optical switches and beam splitters. The company claims it could solve problems that would take conventional computers millions of years to crack.
