Unbeaten Japan top VNL table after beating Italy 3-2 in Osaka

Japan defeated world champions Italy 3-2 in the opening match of the Osaka leg of the Volleyball Nations League, remaining unbeaten this season and topping the standings. Italy's squad included setter Simone Giannelli but it was not enough. With just three matches left, Italy must fight hard to qualify for the final tournament.
