Portmarnock Golf Club close to hosting first Open Championship outside the UK

R&A chief executive Mark Darbon said the organisation is "getting pretty close" to bringing the Open Championship to Portmarnock Golf Club in Dublin, Ireland. If confirmed, it would be the first time the prestigious golf major has been held outside the United Kingdom. No specific date has yet been announced.
