Sugar molecules detected at the centre of the Milky Way, hinting at life's origins

Chemists have detected sugar molecules at the centre of the Milky Way, a finding that could help explain how life's building blocks first formed. Sugars are the backbone of RNA and DNA and play a fundamental role in prebiotic chemistry, yet their cosmic origin has remained a mystery.
