Poland creates Border Defence Component to protect its eastern frontier

Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced the creation of the Border Defence Component, a new military structure inspired by the interwar-era Border Protection Corps. The unit will be responsible for supporting protection of Poland's eastern and north-eastern borders against hybrid threats, migration pressure and drone attacks. It is the latest step in Poland's reinforcement of NATO's eastern flank.
