Meta sued: AI allegedly targeted workers on parental and sick leave for layoffs

Twenty-six Meta employees have filed a federal lawsuit in northern California, alleging the company used AI tools to generate layoff lists in a discriminatory way. The system allegedly disproportionately targeted workers on parental leave, medical leave and disability accommodations. The case is among the first US lawsuits to challenge the use of AI in workforce reduction decisions.
