A giant tunnel boring machine named Mary operates 24/7 in Germany, advancing 8 to 10 metres per day. The same TBM technology was used to bore the Świna tunnel in Świnoujście, Poland — where a machine called Wyspiarka connected the islands of Uznam and Wolin.
