Over 1,600 cyclosporiasis cases confirmed in U.S. as CDC investigates 5,000 more

The U.S. CDC has confirmed more than 1,600 cases of cyclosporiasis, a parasitic intestinal illness caused by Cyclospora, with at least 144 people hospitalised. Case counts are described as "unusually high" and expected to keep rising in the coming weeks. The agency is also working to confirm at least 5,000 additional suspected infections.
