Biskupin archaeological reserve set for major revamp
The Biskupin archaeological reserve in Poland, discovered in 1934 by local teacher Walenty Szwajcer, is undergoing a major revamp. The 2,700-year-old fortified settlement, preserved by peat and water, is listed as a national Historic Monument. The 38-hectare site features reconstructions from the Stone Age through the early Middle Ages. Ongoing excavations have recently unearthed medieval fortifications.
