UK plans overnight social media curfew for 16–17-year-olds

The UK government has unveiled plans for a default overnight social media curfew targeting 16- and 17-year-olds, making apps like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube unavailable by default during night hours. The move follows last month's full ban on social media access for under-16s — the second such national ban after Australia's. The UK is positioning itself among the world's most restrictive regulators of teen social media use.
