Warsaw chosen as site of new European Space Agency technology centre

ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher announced on 13 July, from the roof of the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, that Poland's capital will host a new ESA technology centre. Seven Polish cities competed for the site: Gdańsk, Wrocław, Katowice (with the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis), Łódź, Kraków, Warsaw and Poznań. Aschbacher stressed the strategic importance of space technologies for the EU, particularly in the context of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
