US troops to leave Iraq by end of September 2026 after 23 years

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi announced after a White House meeting with Donald Trump that all remaining US troops will leave Iraq by the end of September 2026. This marks the end of over 23 years of American military presence in the country, which began with the 2003 invasion.
