Sweden Bans Cousin Marriages Outright Amid Immigration Debate

Sweden has introduced an unconditional ban on marriages between cousins. The issue gained political attention following the arrival of refugees from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, where such unions are culturally common. Previous Swedish law allowed some exceptions, but the new legislation eliminates them entirely.
