Meloni's Hunting Law Reform Risks EU Clash and Domestic Pressure in Italy

Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is pushing through the country's biggest hunting law overhaul in over three decades, which would expand hunting grounds, seasons and huntable species, and controversially redefine hunters as "bioregulators." The bill has passed the Senate and is being examined by the Agriculture Committee. The European Commission sent Rome an official letter in December warning the reform may violate the EU's Birds Directive, setting up a potential clash between Rome and Brussels.
