Florida Executes 74-Year-Old Dennis Sochor, Oldest in State's Modern History

Florida executed 74-year-old Dennis Sochor on Tuesday, making him the oldest prisoner put to death in the state's modern history. Sochor was convicted of kidnapping and murdering 18-year-old Patricia Gifford in 1982. The US Supreme Court had previously rejected his clemency petition.
