US Navy Seeks Next-Gen Carrier-Based Drones for Eight Combat Missions

The US Navy issued a Request for Information on July 14 seeking a family of autonomous carrier-based drones for Ford- and Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carriers. The platforms, part of the Air Wing of the Future Family of Systems, must be capable of eight missions including strikes on ships and land targets, anti-submarine warfare, air-to-air combat and electronic warfare. The RFI response deadline is August 13; designs may be single-role, multi-role or modular.
