Kawa beats higher-ranked Waltert 6-1, 6-4 in Iași WTA opener

Katarzyna Kawa, ranked 142nd in the world, defeated Swiss player Simona Waltert, ranked 81st, 6-1, 6-4 in the first round of the WTA 250 tournament in Iași, Romania. The Polish player dominated throughout, winning convincingly in straight sets.
