EU opens accession negotiations with Moldova on foreign and defence policy

The European Union formally opened accession negotiations with Moldova on Tuesday, covering the chapter on foreign and defence policy. Irish Minister for European Affairs Thomas Byrne said the pace of work demonstrates the importance the EU attaches to enlargement. Moldova was granted EU candidate status in June 2022.
