Fontainebleau forest fire near Paris contained but not yet extinguished

Two fires that have burned over 2,000 hectares since Sunday in the Fontainebleau Forest south of Paris have been "contained" but not extinguished, local prefect Pierre Ory announced Tuesday evening. Contained means the fires are confined within their perimeter, but firefighters may need to remain on scene for days or even weeks. The blazes started on Sunday and are still smouldering.
