Over 5,500 cyclosporiasis "explosive diarrhea" cases across 40 US states
More than 5,500 cases of cyclosporiasis — a parasitic infection causing severe, "explosive" diarrhea — have been reported across at least 40 US states. Michigan and New York are among the hardest-hit states, but outbreaks are occurring in most of the country. The parasite Cyclospora is typically spread through contaminated fresh produce.
