Polish government to pay firms for voluntary energy consumption cuts

Poland's Ministry of Energy is proposing to pay the country's largest industrial consumers for voluntarily reducing their electricity usage during power-system emergencies when supply restrictions must be imposed. The change is to be introduced by government regulation. The aim is to stabilise the power grid without resorting to mandatory supply cuts.
