Measuring a black hole's spin requires going to space, new study finds
A new study led by Tegan Thomas of the University of Virginia concludes that current ground-based instruments cannot accurately measure how fast black holes spin. The researchers say a new space-based tool, expected to be available within the next few years, will make precise measurements possible. The findings are available as a pre-print on arXiv.
