California has launched the MyFirstEV programme, providing an instant $3,500 rebate at the point of sale for first-time electric vehicle buyers. The scheme was created in response to the federal government's withdrawal of comparable EV incentives. Unlike a tax credit, the discount is applied immediately at the dealership, removing the need to wait for a tax refund.
