Nolan pushes back on Damon's Hollywood gloom: "I don't share that defeatism"

Matt Damon said during promotion of "Odyseja" that the film may be one of the last chances to make a large-scale production with thousands of extras and global travel, predicting studios will soon stop funding such projects. Speaking to The Telegraph, Christopher Nolan said he understood what Damon meant but explicitly rejected his pessimism, calling it "defeatism" and expressing belief in the future of ambitious, large-scale cinema.
