Trump Drops 20% Hormuz Shipping Fee, Replaces It With Full Iran Blockade
President Donald Trump reversed his plan to charge a 20% fee on all cargo ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, just one day after announcing it. In a Truth Social post, Trump said the strait will remain open to all ships except those linked to Iran, with a full blockade imposed on vessels going to or from Iranian ports or carrying Iranian cargo. The fee will be replaced by large trade and investment deals with Gulf states.
