Australia's under-16 social media ban shows minimal results as kids bypass it

An Australian law in force since December 2024 bars children under 16 from having accounts on platforms including Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube. Studies show most minors can still access and create accounts on these networks despite the ban. The government has doubled the maximum fine for non-compliant tech firms and is warning of further court action.
