MEP Obajtek tried to enter a strike-hit mine – but has no such right
PiS MEP Daniel Obajtek attempted to enter the "Solino" salt mine in Inowrocław, where workers are on strike, claiming he was conducting a "parliamentary intervention." He argued that as an MEP he has the same rights as a national MP, but this is incorrect — MEPs do not hold the right to intervene in domestic facilities in Poland. The incident has sparked debate about the limits of an MEP's mandate.
