Eastern Poland to lose up to 15% of its population – among EU's fastest-shrinking regions

Eurostat data show that 70% of EU regions will shrink in population, with eastern Poland among the fastest-depopulating areas. Most regions there are projected to lose at least 15% of their population. The trend is driven by emigration, an ageing population and low birth rates.
