Coalition of 24 Groups Urges UK Government to Leave VPNs Unrestricted

On July 9, a coalition of 24 digital rights groups and VPN providers — including Amnesty International, ExpressVPN, NordVPN, Surfshark and Mozilla — sent an open letter to UK Secretary of State Liz Kendall warning against VPN restrictions. The groups argue that age-gating VPNs would undermine the privacy of millions of users and is technically unfeasible. The UK government is weighing tighter online safety rules aimed at protecting children.
